The purpose of this Communiqué is to regulate the principles and procedures with regard to the conformity inspection of the chemicals on import, listed in Appendices, regarding the protection of environment.

It covers the inspection procedures of chemicals that shall enter into Turkish Republic s Customs Zones. Following subjects are also covered in the Communiqué:

• Inspection of Conformity and Certification (i.e. Control Certificate)
• Registration Certificate for the Importer of Chemicals That Are Under Control With Regard to Protection of Environment
• How to apply and obtain the Control Certificate
• Chemicals, Importation of which are prohibited (i.e. currently there are 81 different such chemicals as laid down in Annex 1 to the Communiqué. CAS and EC numbers of these chemicals are also provided in the said Annex)
• Customs Procedures (required documents, certificates, etc.)
