The purpose of this Regulation is to designate the essential health and safety requirements of the machinery at the design and production phases, as defined in Annex I, and the conformity assessment procedures to be followed, and the minimum criteria to be taken into account for notification of bodies provided that they are placed on the market and put into service only if they do not endanger the health or safety of persons and, where appropriate, domestic animals or property, when properly installed and maintained and used for their intended purpose.
